CHALK PAINTING 101

J2J is proud to host the creative ladies from Rustic Soul. These two are going to ROCK your painting world with a new chalk paint product that will change how you view DIY projects! These experts in furniture refinishing, with the motto- REstyle, REpurpose, REfunk - will give you the peak behind the curtain to how they make old junk look junque fabulous. There workshop will be 2 hours of painting exploration & you will get hands-on use of different products including paints, tools & waxing. Leave empowered to tackle all your furniture with CHALK PAINT. Home make over here you come!

Gone Junkin'

We have spent at least every other weekend the past several months trekking around the Ozarks to attend our daughters volleyball tournaments. It's really been great family time & serves as a mandatory escape from the never ending "to-do" list which I'm grateful for. The bonus of our volleyball getaways is scouting new junkin' gems! I've found some new favorite flea markets, cheapo thrift stores & junky places I of course love. Now I have little treasures collected from all my new favorite places.

This ugly round table is going to be hacked up & transformed into the perfect end table for my living room...some day!

I'm hoarding colorful plates for a fabulous plate wall I am envisioning. Seriously I picked up some for .10, who can resist??? Now I need to find the wall space because I think my mission to find plates is complete.

      

Of coarse Kaia wanted to bring home a WHALE! It really was for sale & gave a good ride, alas our decor isn't suited for such shenanigans.

Bunches of goodness included a vintage globe, sheet music, a happy yellow egg basket, brass bunny and some antlers. Good junk I'm sure to find useful as decor in our house. Love a good chotchkie!

Drum roll please....the shining glory of my finds is this $40 dazzling gem!

Isn't she fabulous? Or at least she will be when I get time to mend her. Perhaps she will live over my bathtub.

April Sewing Classes

OPEN SEWING

Bring your sewing machine and unfinished sewing projects, or a new project on Pinterest you're dying to re-create. The sewing pro from Darling Livi will be there to help. 

Snacks & Drinks are provided. We also have door prizes & a nifty coin purse make in take project.

Please contact us in advance if they need help planning a project or if you want to borrow a sewing machine for the day.

BEGINNER SEWING SERIES

Perfect if you want to learn to sew! Becky from Darling Livi for this 4 part Beginner Sewing Class series.

  

This class is a four session class that introduces beginners to the basics of sewing: using the sewing machine, understanding the pattern, sewing terms, cutting, marking, current construction methods, pressing, and using tools and notions. Sessions consist of a lecture-demonstration, with workshop time and individual instruction.

  

You will create two projects. A tote bag to carry your sewing projects in and an apron.

 

 We will have sewing machines available or you can bring your own. 

Kit will contain: patterns and fabric for both projects, fabric scissors, seam ripper, tape measure, glass head pins, a seam gauge, hand sewing needles, marking pen and the book

Sew with Confidence: A Beginner's Guide to Basic Sewing by Nancy Zieman.

I am a lot of things

Some days I feel like I am just finding myself.

 Somehow at age 30 I have these "aha" moments that make me say..."oh, that's who I am".

 There are parts of me I am just learning about.

 I am a lot of things.

 I don't fit into a box and a mold of what is "normal" or expected.

 That applies to all of us.

 I guess we aren't always who we're expected to be.

 We can surprise even ourselves.

 I surprise myself!

How my interests & passions changes & grow.

My hopes & desires change.

I dream new dreams.

 And I think sometimes, I surprise my customers with how my business evolves.

By doing something they didn't expect - teaching at a different venue, changing a logo, letting parts of my business go, or by pursuing new businesses.

Sometimes their surprised in a bad way,

disappointed...

But more often I hope they are surprised in a great, inspirational way.

 Either way I am learning to be okay with that.

After all, I want my business to be so closely tied to who I am

and I am okay with being me

even if I am still figuring that out.

 But for today, what I have figured out is...

 I am a lot of things.

MAKERS weekend announcement

What is a Makers weekend you ask? 

We guarantee you have never experience anything quiet like this before.

It's a weekend all about MAKERS  (a.k.a. YOU, making cool stuff)! 

We will MAKE with our hands. We will MAKE crafty friends. We will MAKE our souls happy doing what we were MADE to do. Create!

The low down on this event:

• Begins Friday, April 26th in Siloam Springs at a craft house for 12 ladies
• Wraps up Sunday afternoon, April 28th.
• Price includes fabulous home-made meals & endless beverages for the weekend
