it's coming...

it's coming...a weekend all about MAKERS! we will MAKE with our hands. we will MAKE crafty friends. we will MAKE our souls happy doing what we were MADE to do.

I'm overjoyed! This event has been in my heart for so long & it is coming to fruition. Making things is my passion – I am forever tattooed with the word CREATE because it’s such a big part of who I am & my dreams. My biggest dream is to share the magic in creativity with YOU!

I dream that creative woman can do impossible things,
that there is enough light in the world for each one of us
to sparkle & shine.

I believe possibilities are endless
when we follow our own path
and the magic that follows when we wander our own way.

I love the exchanging of creativity & believe it sparks new ideas and grows...changes...evolves with each persons interpretation. I'm hoping you will join me as a MAKER April 26th - 28th at our first ever MAKERS weekend.

details coming soon.

Screen Door to Command Center

Let's be honest...I have a fascination with junk! I am forever picking up random old junk in the hopes of coming up with a creative plan to make something out of it. Not sure what my follow thru success rate is with that but at least I have ONE to brag about today...

I purchased this crappy old screen door for $15 at a garage sale.

It set outside for awhile...longer than I care to admit (see it piled among my other loved junking finds) but given the nice winter we are having here in lovely NW Arkansas, and overwhelming inspiration from Pinterest, I've been tackling lots of DIY projects! I decided to transform this old door into a message center for our hallway. Our family needs something functiontional to write family notes on, pin up school notes, and keep track of our life in general. Something functional & cute to look at was the order...and a family project was what we got!

I had my 10 year old daughter sanding away the old chipping paint to give us a good surface to work with.

Then I painted it this cheery Red color and stained it with a Mohogany Minwax stain to keep it looking aged & distressed. I also painted a chalkboard to go in the large end and stamped some burlap pieces mounted on corkboard for the smaller squares.

Then I employed the hubs to help me put it all together. He routered in each of the elements as his contribution so we now have a large chalkboard area on the left, a skinny magnetic area in the middle and 4 burlap squares on the right side which are backed with cork so we can use push pins to them. I'm also considering add a clip to two of those area to function as a clipboard perhaps.

Can't wait toget this up in the hallway and get more organized!

NWA Boutique Show

The NWA Boutique Show is one of my favorite events for 2Katie Designs to attend as a vendor. I love the shopping, the atmosphere & customers are uncomparable. It's 2 days of exhausting fun! See  all thegreat NWA Boutique Show vendors details here.

I know all the vendors work hard to shine at this show and here are some behind the scenes from our workshop & booth space.

The preperation for this show is brutal...making inventory, packing it & loading it requires all hands on deck. Even my grandparents here for a visit from Washington State were put to work finish frames! They were great sports about it.

It's a mess setting up the booth & my creative input isn't always appreciate. I was in love with the idea of having rusty corrguated walls so the colorful items we have would pop visually...which my crafty husband made happen.

I also dreamed of curtains & a chandelier - he and my sewing friend Becky from Darling Livi also whipped those up for the booth.

A sparkly Christmas tree was a must.

Can't pay for help as good as this - love Kara!

By the time the doors openin we looking all pulled together. Goodness overflowing from every possible corner. It was spectacular & better than my creative brain imagined.

Glorious wall of stockings!

The crafty hubs is the best sales guy...I really think the ladies like talking to him more than me : )
The chalkboard mustaches hidden in that front bin where a HIT - thankgoodness for last minnute suggestions from the team we made some & couldn't believe how fast they sold.

So much eye candy - frames, custom bedding, cutie signs & home decor.

We incorporated several furniture pieces we re-did in the booth decor this time. I loved how it worked for storage but also a good talking point about or abilities in that area.

Growth charts in several new styles were one of the most sought after items of the show. We couldn't make them fast enough.

Of course we had some little goodies like these gems. Fabulous Christmas headbands!

Little weenie dogs were a new item from Darling Livi - kiddos & adults love their stuffies.

We were stuffed to the gills with Chevron pillows, there were several Chevron items highlighted thruought the show in support of the "Show me your Chevron event" for I'm with Miller fundraiser they did as part of the event.
For more info go here: http://www.imwithmiller.com/

These magnificent ladies make it all easy on me, putting up with my cranky stressed out creative self. We made it happen. Thanks to the NWA Boutique Show for having us.

Junque 2 Jewels, October 2012

We had our fall Junque 2 Jewels event this passed weeked and I wanted to share some of the details.

We had a

The furniture selection was amazing - more selection & variety than ever before!

We had new vendors like Sassy Doodles who made the adorable door hangers, large & small.

Our VIP night was over the top fabulous with fall food favorites.

Look at all the fun fall goodness! End tables, fall pillows, how decor signs, furniture. It's the best shopping under one roof - I promise!

That Chevron pumpkin had to come live with me : )

Lots of on trend Chevron items.

One of the items we added was clothing & jewlery more so than in past events.  It added a fun boutique touch & was popular with customers.

I love how our little shop is forever changing, one of the changes for this event was our new nursery space. We collected all the baby items & decor to create a little cutie baby haven.

Pillows galore!

A few fun Christmas items to get y'all in the spirit too!
Thanks to everyone who came & shopped in the miserable weather. We are recovered & dreaming up the next event already. See ya at Junque 2 Jewels in 2013!
